Status Sunday: Week 17
The "getting things back on track for real this time" edition.
It's been about four months since I started learning Italian, and for more than one full month of that time, I didn't do any practice.
So, here's the point where I hold myself accountable: I've done a poor job of learning Italian, and I need to step it up if I have hopes of achieving B1 proficiency within any reasonable amount of time.
That was very apparent as I started my A2 Dante class this week, rusty and extremely behind schedule with vocabulary learning. It's time to reintroduce some structure and get things back on track.

Dante Global Classes
I started my A2 course on Friday, and as I mentioned earlier in this blog post, I've got some ground to make up. Really, the issue is vocabulary.
We're not using any exotic grammatical concepts yet, so it's just a matter of having the words to keep up with the exercises. In addition to the usual vocab that I'm exposed to in reading, writing and listening exercises, I'm going to do 25 focus words per week, working through the most common Italian words that I don't already know.
We'll see how effective it is, but I've also downloaded the Tobo Italian app for vocab practice on my phone while I have downtime.
Of course, I'll share my progress here.
Reading
Still a bit stalled in Olly's Short Stories in Italian for Beginners, as well as Nuovo Espresso. I'm going to set aside 30 minutes for each starting this week.
